Thriller Game Friday Night

Number 7 seeded Bayport
Blue Point Phantoms upset the number 2 seed
Babylon Panthers in a fantastic Friday Night
Lights Football Game. Both teams played very
hard but the Phantoms came out of the locker
room completely focused and ready to get to
work, they wanted to stop the talk that Bayport
would never beat a team at the Babylon caliber.
The Phantoms proved not only could they beat
Babylon but do it in a way that made their
coaches, their fans and an entire football
community proud.
The score was 26-19.
The Babylon Panthers are an extremely talented
and tough team but through the spectacular
coaches play calling and a team completely
focused the Phantoms got to work. Every player
on the Phantoms deserves credit. Quarterback
Corey Picone had a fantastic game, running plays
and passing the ball as well as doing his part
on defense. Receiver Zach Flood had the first
touchdown catching an 11 yard pass from Picone.
Junior receiver Ian Bateman caught a 25 yard
pass from Picone to make it 14-13 at the half.
When the second half
started the Phantoms were still rolling along
and holding the Panthers back, The defense was
fantastic, every one of the 11 young men who
played on that defense is the main reason they
won. Each an everyone of them had made
every block, every tackle, they were focused and
driven. Senior Captain and running back Bryan
Anderson scored the next touchdown to put the
Phantoms up 20-13. Then the Panthers answered
back with a touchdown by Pate, the Phantoms
blocked the kick so they retained the lead by
1. The Phantoms went on to score another
touchdown to seal the deal.
This was an amazing
feat for the Bayport Phantoms as Babylon will not
advance in the playoffs for the first time in 13
years. It was a fantastic game with an
extremely tough opponent, the Phantoms go on to
play John Glenn in the next round.
