CENTRAL ISLIP FOOTBALL 2011 PREVIEW

2010 RECORD 3-5

HEAD COACH: JOE TAORMINA     6^TH  SEASON

The 2011 Central Islip football team will be young and inexperienced. The team returns only 3 starters and 13 players from last years roster. The team should be solid at QB with returning southpaw captain Eric McCoy. Also, returning for his third varsity season is 6'2"  240 Junior FB/LB/DL   Dan Thompson. His tenth grade season was cut short by a knee injury. He will be one of the captains and looks to carry the ball a lot more in 2011. Also returning is Senior captain 6'4" 305  OT/DT  Joe Pierre.  Joe Pierre has been a starter on Varsity since the ninth grade and has gotten bigger, stronger, and faster each year. Last year he had three sacks, 22 tackles and one interception on defense. Joe gets off the ball well, has a nice flat back and great hips for a 305 pound kid. He lead the team in pancakes and should have another strong season anchoring our lines. Joe will play football at the next level and several schools have shown interest at the Division I and IAA level. He should be considered a candidate for the Zellner award in 2011. The 2011 Musketeers will look to get contributions from Seniors RB/LB  Greg Dailey, OL/RB/DL  Ian Boyer, DB/WR Dan Cotrich , DB/WR Jamel Jackson and DB/WR Kevin Vega. The team has trained hard over the summer is looking for some of the underclassmen to step in and replace last years graduating seniors. The 2011 team lacks true Division I depth and will have to stay injury free to compete at a high level.
